Paul Ryan was really thirsty……….Martha Raddatz did a very good job…I didn’t like questions about how their religion would influence their decisions, because I don’t think it should have anything to do with it… period…I think Martha’s portrait of the war (waste) in Afghanistan really reflected what MOST Americans think about it..(they’re sick of it). When Paul Ryan says “it should be up to the generals when to withdraw” I want to puke. The generals are WARRIORS….it’s what they do for a living…Biden was more on target about who should decide when to end the mess.. The idea that Romney and Ryan have about how we should have stayed in Iraq just had me shaking my head…I was confused about the abortion stance that Paul Ryan has taken…I thought he was a pro life from conception believer ( I’m sure he said exactly that last night )…but that in cases of “rape, incest, or to save the health of the mother”, abortion is okay…HUH? So life begins at conception…but you can kill that life sometimes? That’s either a BIG flip flop…or I was after a flea on Woof’s tail when he was talking about it…..
Ryan was a part of the whole “personhood” thing…where a fertilized egg would be considered to be a human being…how’s that jive with what seems to be his new position on abortion?….The back and forth about Iran was interesting, as I’ve been feeling all along that Romney is trigger happy, and the idea that we’re going to change the Ayatollah’s mind sounded weird, and I think Biden is much less hawkish than even the president…Ryan said the big stimulus was a mistake, but didn’t deny asking for some of it to “create jobs” in his district.
I feel more secure with social security and medicare with the democrats, and remember very well when the GOP wanted to put all the funds into the stock market…that would have been lovely when the economy crashed…What are those “loopholes” that Romney and Ryan would close?….that’s still a big scary mystery for the country.
All in all it was an interesting debate…lots of energy…two very different personalities, one of whom I could see stepping into the oval office as Commander in Chief, and one who would not appear to be ready. One would certainly champion the rights of women to make their own decisions about their bodies (kinda like we guys always do), and one who would be fighting to take those rights away. One of these two would work for equality for all Americans, to serve in the armed forces, to marry whomever they chose, and have legal protection from any discrimination…one would try to re-instate Don’t ask Don’t Tell, overturn Roe v Wade, and fight to invalidate many of my friends’ marriages……………… HANG ON A MINUTE…….
My partner just reminded me that Mitt Romney was one of the bullies who held down the gay student and cut off his hair…..and Woof just reminded me that Romney abused and humiliated his dog. Now they’re both warning me about getting my priorities straight…Gotta keep the peace around here.
